Globally, lawmakers are working to determine if the tech giants are abusing their market power with the app stores, which provide the main distribution path for software that runs on mobile devices. ![]() The move comes at a time of increased regulatory scrutiny over the app stores and several antitrust lawsuits, including an ongoing one in the U.S. In addition, by lowering the fees on apps delivering media experiences, Google believes this could allow businesses to pass on the savings to the artists, musicians, authors and other creators who would be impacted by the changes. That requires developers to invest more into their app-based business. Meanwhile, when determining the new fees for media apps, Google said that it realized that app-building now requires addressing a number of platforms, including TVs, cars, watches, tablets and more. The company noted it spoke with the developer community to help determine the new fee structure, and took in feedback from a variety of developers across industries and verticals, including Anghami, AWA, Bumble, Calm, Duolingo, KADOKAWA, KKBOX, Picsart and Smule. ![]() Developers are asked to fill out a form to express interest. The Play Media Experience Program encompasses apps like e-books and on-demand streaming music or video services, where the content costs account for the majority of sales. These will be adjusted to as low as 10%, it says. The company says 99% of developers will qualify for a service fee of 15% or less, as Google is also further reducing fees for specific vertical apps in the Play Media Experience Program. Instead of charging them 30% in the first year, which lowers to 15% in year two and beyond, Google says developers will only be charged 15% from day one. Now, it will lower the fees specifically for app makers who generate revenue through recurring subscriptions. Previously, the company had followed Apple’s move by reducing commissions from 30% to 15% on the first $1 million of developer earnings. It has to be kept in mind, Google is also working on its own screen mirroring feature which could be bad news for the scrcpy app.Google is lowering commissions on all subscription-based businesses on the Google Play Store, the company announced today. Other features include a default centered window when performing resize-to-fit, or the option to turn off the phone when the session ends. You can drag and drop files from your desktop to the scrcpy interface that’ll be saved automatically to /SDcard/Download for better organization. On the positive side, the newer scrcpy version 1.18 update brings some other features that’ll balance out the equation. With restricted ability to view content or take screenshots of protected content, it will be a major irk for users. Unless scrcpy is able to find another workaround in the coming months until the release of the Android 12 final build, things are looking iffy for the app. Things like password managers, banking apps or streaming services will no longer be mirrored. ![]() Thus, you’ll not be able to see sensitive protected content on your PC screen, courtesy of the secure display settings on the upcoming OS. ![]() Now with Android 12 on the way, the application is not able to use this workaround. In such cases, the editor opted for the variant that best makes sense in the explication of Aristotle’s text. ![]() This decision is well justified, for instance, with respect to those instances that are due to scribal error. In these final sections of the introduction, Celano lists the most common variants found in the two manuscripts used for this edition of the text and explains the rationale for choosing between the alternative variants. Chapter 6, which is preceded by the brief sections 1–3 on editorial notes (manuscripts used, methodology, orthography and sigla), marks the start of the second part of the book, the edition of Kilwardby’s commentary. The lengthier chapter 3 examines the Expositio super libros Ethicorum in connection with other works by Kilwardby and some of his contemporaries, while chapter 4 focuses on the key topics considered in the Ethica vetus and Chapter 5 provides a conclusion to this interpretative part of the study. The first part of the volume consists of five chapters, with the first two providing a characterization of the context in which this text was written (chapter 1) and the background of its author (chapter 2). The book is divided into two parts: the first consists of a lengthy study of Kilwardby’s commentary on the first three books of Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics whereas the second includes the edition of Robert Kilwardby’s Expositio super libros Ethicorum. ![]() Much has been published in recent decades about these early discussions, and Anthony Celano’s study, Robert Kilwardby’s Commentary on the Ethics of Aristotle, is a very welcome addition to this scholarship on medieval ethics, as well as to the thirteenth-century Dominican Robert Kilwardby. ![]() The first Latin commentaries on the text, from the first half of the thirteenth century, centered around the concepts of the good, human happiness, and virtue, which form the core of the Aristotelian treatise. The dew point of a body of air depends on its water vapor content and pressure. If a smooth surface is available, vapor condenses directly onto it as drops of water (dew). When a body of air is cooled to its dew point or below, some fraction of its water vapor shifts from gaseous to liquid phase to form fog or cloud droplets. ![]() The dew point is that temperature below which the water vapor in a body of air cannot all remain vapor. See also Atmosphere, composition and structure Atmospheric pressure Atmospheric temperature Clouds Evaporation Evapotranspiration Precipitation Weather forecasting. The temperature at which condensation occurs gives the dew point of the surrounding air. As the temperature of the glass drops, the air in contact with it is chilled when it reaches its dew point, water condenses on the glass. The glass is filled with ice water and stirred. Invented in 1751, this consists essentially of a glass with a thermometer inserted. The dew point can be measured using an instrument called a dew-point hygrometer. Ground mist and fog may also form under these conditions. When the dew point is reached, dew forms. In this case, the dew point of the air remains approximately constant while its temperature drops. In this case, the dew point is termed the frost point.Īir at ground level often deposits dew on objects at night as it cools. If the dew point of a body of air is below 32 ☏ (0 ☌), its water vapor will precipitate not as liquid water but as ice. ![]() Decreasing the pressure of air lowers its dew point lowering pressure (at constant temperature) increases the average distance between molecules and makes water vapor less likely to coalesce.
